The Core 10 Steel Base
reaching
high and nearing completion. |
|
|
The Monument is
finished. It is made of Core10 Steel with a Bronze Photo Etched
Plaque. Later, a Bronze Cast Helmet will be attached.
Now, the Memorial needs the foundation poured in
order to be delivered and mounted. The
memorial will be surrounded by a garden that will be
located in Wilder Park.
The Board approached Ned
Cain, a local artist, with the project for his
input. We came with the contest
materials and
design efforts of the students at Wilder Elementary
School. Ned took into account all the children's
creativity and molded them into a single vision. The
Monument (under construction) to the left is the result.
Ned Cain has already begun the work and is nearing
completion on the metal
sculpture. He has promised to donate his time to
build it. The foundation will be donated by Martell
Construction. The Garden will be donated by Scenic
View. More is still needed both in effort and
funds. If you want to make some kind of
contribution please contact Memorial Committee and

| Some Facts about the Memorial: |
|
Core 10 Steel is a carbon sheet steel
with copper added. When rusted the oxide layer becomes
sufficiently thick that it prevents further rusting,
resulting in a maintenance free memorial that will last
for many decades, if not centuries.
The Bronze plaque
was supplied by Bronze Memorials from Florida.
Made from 90% copper and 10% zinc the plaque should last
for hundreds of years.
The Bronze Helmet will be supplied by Liberty Arts of Missouri.
Liberty Arts is a company owned and operated by firemen.
